Modern Slavery Statement
Hampstead Man and Van Modern Slavery Statement
This Modern Slavery Statement sets out the steps taken by Hampstead Man and Van to prevent modern slavery and human trafficking in our operations and supply chains. We provide removal and transport services and recognise our responsibility to conduct business ethically, transparently and in full respect of human rights.
Our Commitment and Zero-Tolerance Policy
Hampstead Man and Van has a zero-tolerance approach to all forms of modern slavery, human trafficking, forced labour and child labour. We are committed to acting with integrity in all business dealings and to implementing and enforcing effective systems and controls to ensure that modern slavery does not occur within our own operations or in any part of our supply chains.
We expect the same high standards from all our suppliers, contractors and business partners, and we reserve the right to terminate any relationship with organisations or individuals found to be involved in modern slavery or in serious breach of our ethical requirements.
Our Supply Chains and Areas of Risk
Our supply chains primarily include vehicle leasing and maintenance providers, fuel suppliers, equipment and packaging suppliers, recruitment and labour agencies, facilities and cleaning services, and other professional service providers. While we consider the overall risk of modern slavery in our core operations to be low, we recognise that risks can exist in indirect tiers of the supply chain, particularly where lower-skilled labour or outsourced services are involved.
We continuously assess potential risk areas and focus on suppliers and categories where modern slavery indicators may be more likely to arise, such as sub-contracted labour, cleaning or maintenance services and any overseas sourcing of goods or components.
Supplier Standards and Audits
We are developing and implementing supplier standards that require our suppliers and business partners to confirm compliance with applicable labour and human rights laws and to reject all forms of modern slavery. Where appropriate, we seek contractual commitments from suppliers confirming that they do not engage in forced, bonded or involuntary labour and that they provide safe and fair working conditions.
Hampstead Man and Van conducts proportionate due diligence on new and existing suppliers. This can include requests for information about employment practices, confirmation of right-to-work checks, and evidence of policies related to modern slavery and human rights. Where we identify higher risk, we may undertake additional checks, request supporting documentation or conduct audits, either directly or through third parties.
If a supplier is unwilling or unable to meet our requirements, we will consider appropriate corrective actions, up to and including ending the business relationship.
Reporting Channels and Whistleblowing
We encourage all employees, workers, contractors and suppliers to speak up if they have concerns about modern slavery, human trafficking or any serious labour abuse connected to Hampstead Man and Van or its supply chains. Concerns can be raised directly with line managers or senior management, or through any designated internal reporting channels communicated to staff and contractors.
Reports may be made confidentially, and we will not tolerate retaliation or detrimental treatment against anyone who raises a concern in good faith. All allegations will be taken seriously, reviewed promptly and, where necessary, investigated and addressed with appropriate remedial steps.
Training, Awareness and Responsibilities
Responsibility for our modern slavery commitments rests with senior management, who oversee the implementation and effectiveness of our policies and controls. Managers involved in procurement, recruitment or supplier management receive guidance on identifying potential red flags and responding to concerns.
We are working to increase awareness among staff of the risks and signs of modern slavery, and to ensure that relevant personnel understand how to report concerns and support our zero-tolerance approach.
Monitoring, Annual Review and Continuous Improvement
Hampstead Man and Van is committed to ongoing improvement in our approach to preventing modern slavery. We monitor the effectiveness of our measures by reviewing reports raised, supplier responses, audit findings and any incidents or complaints related to labour practices.
This Modern Slavery Statement is reviewed at least annually to ensure it remains current, effective and aligned with legal requirements and best practice. As our business develops, we will continue to refine our risk assessments, strengthen supplier engagement, enhance training and update our procedures to reinforce our commitment to eradicating modern slavery from our operations and supply chains.
